Approaching nutrition from a holistic perspective just makes sense to me.
Nutrition and nourishment is not a "one size fits all" approach (I'm not sure one-size fits all EVER really makes sense)! Various factors are considered and I respect that people have their own personal tastes and lifestyle. I consider these factors when working with each individual according to their needs.
What foods we fuel our bodies with matters. Food is fuel. If we wonder why we lack energy on a daily basis, we might want to look at what kinds of food we are ingesting. "Dead" foods with no nutritional content will most likely make us feel "dead, foggy and unmotivated." When we consume things labelled foods that contain a large list of ingredients we cannot understand or pronounce, its difficult to expect the body to understand what to do with these man-made ingredients. Generally they are included to cheapen the processing of the product, surely not helping our bodies run more effectively. Our bodies with all of its miraculous functions may seem like machines, but unfortunately the body has limits. We also have to remember that even machines in time will breakdown if not regularly maintained and need to be supported in order to work optimally.
Its important to note that one person's fuel may be another person's poison which is why it is necessary to look at all aspects of the individual, (their history and current ailments, physical and emotional state, allergies, sensitivities and/or intolerances). If the body responds negatively to a particular food even though the food is considered healthy, this particular food may not be right for the individual or at least for the time being until the body starts to heal.
Most diseases begin in the gut. Whether it be obvious digestive issues like IBS, constipation, gas or bloating, other issues like inflammation, allergies, mental/emotional states, etc also stem from the digestive tract. Compromised digestion and the inability to absorb nutrients can lead to a whole list of other problems that may not seem connected. By addressing the healing of the gut, the body tends to respond and kickstarts the process of healing of the whole body.
The use of supplements is not a substitute for wholesome, nutritious foods but they may be helpful and suggested for additional support especially for long term deficiencies and particular ailments.
A one-on-one session will help determine your personal nutritional needs. We will focus on what to include in your day to day that is realistic to help you feel your very best.
**Please note: I am not able to take on new Holistic Nutrition Clients at this time**
